If
using Vista or Win 7 you must first install telnet client
(go to add/remove programs, add/remove windows features,
check telnet client, click ok, this will take 10 mins to
install}.
Bridging the ZyXEL 645 Series Modem
1. To begin, click on the Windows
Start
button and select
Run. A Run window will
appear. Type
telnet 192.168.1.1 into the
Open field, and click OK.
2. A Telnet 192.168.1.1 window will open and
ask for a
Password. Use the “modem
password” created during the initial
installation of EMBARQ DSL. If a password
was not set, or the device has been reset,
use the default password of
1234. Press
Enter after typing the password.
** Note: If another Password prompt
appears after pressing Enter, the password
was not accepted. Try typing the password
again, or hold the Reset button on the
back of the Sprint modem for 30 seconds.
This will change the password back to
1234. After doing this, return to step 1.
3. A
Main Menu will appear. At the “Enter
Menu Selection Number:” prompt, type the
number 1
and press Enter.
**Note: Your mouse will not work in this
application. You must use the keys on the
keyboard to move the cursor.
4. The
General Setup menu will appear.
Press
Enter until the cursor (a block or a
flashing line) moves down to
Route IP.
Press the
space bar on your keyboard to
change this value to
No.
Press
Enter two more times to move the
cursor to
Bridge. Press the
spacebar to
change this value to
Yes.
Press
Enter until you return to the
Main
Menu.
5. Type in
3 then hit Enter.
Then type in
2 then hit
Enter
6. The first option is
DHCP. By default, this is
set to Server.
Press the
Spacebar two times to change
this setting to
None.
Press
Enter until you return to the previous
menu. Hit
Escape (ESC) to return to the
Main Menu.
7. At the Main Menu, type
4 then press
Enter.
This will bring you to the
Internet Access
Setup screen.
Press
Enter to move the cursor to
Encapsulation. Press the
spacebar until
this value changes to
RFC 1483.
Press
Enter until the cursor moves down to
Single User Account. Press the spacebar
to change this value to
No.
Do not make any other changes on this
screen. Press
Enter until you return to
the
Main Menu.
8. At the Main Menu, type
11 then press
Enter. The
Remote Node Setup menu will
appear. Type number
1 and press
Enter.
9. The
Remote Node Profile menu will
display.
Press
Enter until the cursor moves to the
top of the second column. Press the
spacebar to change the
Route value to
None.
Press
Enter to move the cursor to
Bridge.
Press the
spacebar to change this value to
Yes.
Press
Enter until you return to the previous
menu.
10.Press
Escape (ESC)
on the keyboard to
return to the Main Menu.
11.At the Main Menu, type
99 then press
Enter
to end the telnet session.
